So its a new year…. A new Fucking year. 2015 to be exact and I find my self thrown into the perilous topic of the day, racism!!! BOOM there it is and it will get much worse before it gets better. I must state before I delve into this tedious and very heated discussion this is more of a personal entry touching on my personal experiences. While I understand that many of us here today have opinions I in no way feel that my own opinion trumps that of another. I am a very open minded yet outspoken person, which means I am always willing to look and listen to opposing sides but you’d better be ready for a response if the need sticks.
With that being said there are often times situations where wrong is wrong; And there can be no way to justify wrong doing. Lets take for instance the not so unfamiliar occurence of deja vu so to speak where unarmed men lose there lives because of nothing more than walking in the street. Notice that I chose to abstain from the use of racial discriminators. This is happening in 2015 just the same as in 1950.. . . .. Just think about that for a minute. In 1954 Brown vs. Board of Education heard under the ruling of Supreme Court found that segregation was unconstitutional. 65 years later we find that there is still seperation and segregations within the land of liberty and free.
If a man can no longer walk the streets without being in danger of death for simply being a jay walker then there is a serious failure within the system we uphold to bring forth justice when there are inequities staining our streets with the blood of our future.
There is a great deal of debate: It was self defense, He was a criminal, He charged the officer non of which were proven to be true and indeed were entirely speculations. Since when has the conservative judicial system taken the word and ideals of conspiracy theorist and held them to be true? Further more when did it become common practice to deny and in fact defile the natural order of human law. Where is the desire to preserve human life? Indeed is it not the job and purpose of law enforcement to 1. Protect and Serve and 2. preserve human life through their unique ability to protect. Notice that I said the same thing twice. Were not Michael Brown 2014, Ezell Ford 2014, Trayvon Martin 2012, Roger Owensby Jr. 2000 all human beings, who were citizens of communities housed within the United States of America whose law of Equal Protections spans across all its states? Then why in 2015 am I asking this same question my forefathers asked 75 years ago or even 200 years ago? Why then are people, men, women, and children being unrighteously, unlawfully, and unconstitutionally denied their legal right to protection?
The bureaucracy of a secretively insidious system is the culprit. Within the bowels of its people lies the truth of weather racism is dead. Even more apparent in the actions of its people therein lie the truth buried beneath the surface. In psychology many psycho analysists’ determine that there are ways in which to determine the psychological acuity of a person under assessment. Lets think of this as being something like a natural ability that many people have. (Of which does not have racial boundaries). From early age we are all taught social skills and are able to discern at a fairly young age peers to which we will learn to understand and grow personal relationships with. We learn what is socially acceptable and we learn to adapt to our environment. These are skills learned early in the developmental process and is often times not necessarily learned through curriculum study it is an innate skill that we acquire through social experiences. With that being said we all know that prejudices exist. It would actually be intellectual suicide to say that it doesn’t. It would prove that you have no emotional insight which furthermore shows your inability to process or intellectualize the existence of emotions.
There are visual, auditory, and physical indicators that tells us when someone is happy, sad, angry or even jealous. These are the very same indicators that alerts our senses when someone does not appeal favorably in our opinion, or does not wish to be in your presence or you in theres. Therefore it should not be refuted, that these indicators alert us to deep hatred that causes our young to lose their lives. Emotion. Emotion is not an intellectual process in fact when you are involved in your emotions you are not at all using your cognitive abilities to process information logically. Basically emotion is irrational and it poisons the ability to think clearly and make decision based on reason and logic(depending on the intensity of the emotion). Without practice your emotions will control you and your actions.
I bring all of this up because it serves to build a bridge to the state of mind many of the people who were controversially scrutinized for acts against human beings. To shoot someone who is running, who has their hands up, who has shown that they are in compliance with your requests shows two things the officer was unable to do; show professionalism and uphold his duty to preserve life, gain control of his emotions and use discretion to create and think of a rational solution. If he indeed felt threatened why did he not call for back up 1 and two why was he unable to logically come to the conclusion that if this man surrendered an arrest would be sufficient, and in fact resolve the issue. These are questions I ask without even including the fact that the officer pulled Mike Brown into the vehicle on his own accord putting him in a head lock position. The officer not only failed to rationalize this situation he also failed to follow police protocol.
Right to protection. A right to protection and to protect yourself has to span across all situations. If an officer assaults me I should have the LEGAL right to protect myself against unlawful harm. There can be no separation or segregation when it refer to the laws to which we abide. The imbalance of power was already prevalent prior to these heinous crimes committed by “Officers of the Law” Now they create an institution that imprisons its citizens without due process and in the absence of Law abiding officials.
